Once you have completed all examinations, and your name has been called from the College Register at the Convocation Ceremony, you may use the designation Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada FRCD(C). To continue to use this designation, you must remain a Fellow in good standing which includes the payment of annual dues.
The RCDC Fellowships are awarded at the RCDC Convocation and Annual Dinner, held at rotating centres across Canada, usually the Saturday after Labour Day. You are encouraged to attend the convocation to be recognized for your achievement by your peers and Fellows of the College. Families and friends are also welcome.
Passing the examination does not automatically confer Fellowship upon a successful candidate. Fellowship is conferred after successful completion of the examination and approval of an application for Fellowship to join the RCDC according to College bylaws. Successful candidates who are eligible may apply to the College for conferral of Fellowship provided they sign a College declaration.
Yes, the College has an annual fee for its Fellows and Members, which covers the cost of operations. This is payable by January 1 of each year. The fee in 2009 for Fellows in Canada was $350.00 CND. The fee charges are subject to change as determined annually by Council.
Member is a category of the RCDC that can no longer be attained by examination. Members are specialists who did not fully complete the examination requirements for Fellowship in the College and were granted the use of the term “Member” under rules available at the time. The last Memberships were granted in 1994.
